Rhode Island 2015 Wildlife Action Plan Revision

Those concerned about conserving wildlife in RI may be interested to know that the State has begun the process for developing the 2015 State Wildlife Action Plan (SWAP), this with the cooperation of the University of RI and the Nature Conservancy. Having a plan, approved by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, is requisite to obtaining matching funds from a variety of sources. The overall goal for SWAPS is “to conserve declining … species before they become threatened or endangered.” It is further stated that “through these efforts RIDEM hopes to fund priority conservation statewide.” A promise is made to work with key stakeholders and public input is requested.
